Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest
Trekking through Bwindi Impenetrable Forest on a gorilla tour is one of the best adventure experiences you can gain on your Uganda Safari Holiday. Lying on the edge of the Western Rift valley (Albertine rift), the forest occupies different vegetation zones but predominantly a tropical rain forest. This ancient rainforest is one of the few remaining forests in Africa to have flourished throughout the last Ice Age providing home to roughly half of the world's mountain gorillas (over 340 gorillas according to the latest estimates).
Apart from the rare mountain gorillas, the park also has over 120 other mammalian species including 11 primates, 200 species of butterflies and about 324 different tree species. With these together with a birdlife comprising of 360 species a trek through Bwindi Gorilla Forest is quite adventerous.
